Agates Gems and Gold

Gold and Rock Hounding is what my wife and I do in our spare time, and more if we can. We live in Minnesota where we find and collect many Lake Superior agates, contrary to what the name might suggest you don't have to go to Lake Superior to find the Agates, although that is a nice trip in its self, and a story for later. We find them all over Minnesota, Lake Superior refers to the region where the most beautiful Agates are found. We have several polishers and a saw to cut open our treasures. Someone referred to them as Gods post cards I like that reference. As I said we live in Minnesota and the winters seem to be getting longer each year, so to counter that, we have been going to Arizona, New Mexico, and this year we will add in California. The problem is getting time off, as we are not able to retire yet. We have a motor home we travel in and you need at least 2 weeks as it takes 2-3 days to get to warmer climate from Minnesota. First stop in warm weather is Rock Hound State Park in Deming, New Mexico my wife has referred to as heaven several times When we come back the motor home is loaded down with all kinds of rocks from pretty rocks, to nice minerals, to geodes, and if we are lucky we even find some Gold. That's all for now I will continue with more Gold and Rock Hounding later.
