Gold and Rock Hounding

Gold and Rock Hounding continued, In the last article I was talking about stopping at Rock Hound State Park in Deming, New Mexico. My wife said it was like "heaven on earth", and I have to agree with her, the first time we stopped there we just had our RV, and we could not get out on the many many trails, we tried with the RV but it was to big for the trails. We had a minor fender bender when the RV was to long to go through a wash, they don't believe in culverts as they don't get much rain there, I guess the thinking is you only need a culvert when it rains. The damage was not to bad, we were just lucky we didn't get stuck out in middle of nowhere, right then and there we decided we needed a 4 Wheel Drive for our exploring on BLM land. So the next year we pulled a Geo Tracker with us, the towing went great, and to have the little Geo to take us into the back country it was just great, it was better than a 4 wheeler, because we can use it to go to town when needed, when not at the state park we camp out in the desert on the BLM land. On the way into Rock Hound State Park the first time, I saw an old looking place on the side of the road, there was a sign that read Geodes and Thunder Eggs, there were rather large piles of many different kinds of rocks, interesting I thought. I asked my wife if she wanted to stop and take a look? I found out in her answer that it was a silly question "sure" was my answer. We had no Idea who was there or if anyone was there, much to our surprise there were two gentlemen in side along with a collection of some of the prettiest Geodes we have ever seen. They we cut in half so you could see what was inside they were beautiful some of the most gorgeous Geodes on the planet. After a long conversation with the two gentlemen they told us they have a mine called the Baker mine, which happens to be our last name. We wanted to go to the mine...
